Job summary

The Bridgewater Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing is seeking a Graduate Practical Nurse (GPN) to provide foundational patient care under RN supervision in a supportive team environment. The role supports treatment plans, monitors patients, and assists with daily living activities in NY.

Qualified candidates are graduates of an accredited Practical Nursing program, eligible to take the NCLEX-PN, and CPR/BLS certified. Pay ranges from $22 to $24 per hour with growth after licensure.

Qualifications

• Current CPR/BLS certification (often required)

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility assistance
• Measure and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure)
• Assist with wound care and simple medical procedures
• Administer medications only as permitted under supervision and state guidelines
• Monitor patient conditions and report changes to supervising RN
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
• Support infection control and safety protocols
• Assist patients with daily living activities (ADLs)
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members

Graduate Practical Nurse (GPN)

Position Summary

A Graduate Practical Nurse (GPN) is a recent nursing program graduate who is awaiting licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in New York State. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the GPN provides basic nursing care and supports patient treatment plans in healthcare settings

Key Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility assistance

• Measure and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure)

• Assist with wound care and simple medical procedures

• Administer medications only as permitted under supervision and state guidelines

• Monitor patient conditions and report changes to supervising RN

• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation

• Assist patients with daily living activities (ADLs)

• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members

Supervision

• Works under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse

• Cannot practice independently until fully licensed as an LPN

Requirements
