Job summary

The Oklahoma Tax Commission is seeking a Gross Production Reporting Specialist to support the Business Tax Services Division. The role involves auditing, reviewing financial records, and ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations while assisting taxpayers with filings and correspondence.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, strong analytical skills, and attention to detail. Telework may be possible, with on-site work hours Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, public administration, or closely related field.
  • Each year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.
  • CPA preferred or background in business taxes may be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Assist taxpayers with proper formatting and submission of their monthly production return.
  • Review monthly production reports to validate exemptions, price changes, and adjustments.
  • Redirect remittance and credits to correct production periods to reflect correct balances.
  • Assist taxpayers with penalties and interest explanations.
  • Prepare memos and taxpayer correspondence conveying procedures, laws, and regulations.
  • Communicate with taxpayers, legal representatives, and internal/external staff via email, phone, and in person.

This may include independent responsibility for conducting audits of various functions or activities or serving as a member of an audit team in completing more complex audits or special investigations.The Specialist is involved in conducting professional operational reviews, audits, or special investigations to determine compliance with laws and regulations, generally accepted accounting procedures, financial accountability standards or other requirements. Exhibit manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to operate a computer, keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. Ability to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids. Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels, with or without aids. Ability to communicate clearly. Physical ability to lift up to 15 pounds, to bend, stoop, climb stairs, walk and reach. Duties are normally performed in an office environment with a moderate noise level.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTSTravel is not required.Oklahoma Tax Commission’s normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm. This schedule may require minor flexibility based on the needs of the agency.Telework may be required based on the needs of the agency, division, and section.
