Base Power seeks a Government Relations Specialist for Texas to lead state affairs and represent the company in the legislature and regulatory bodies. You will shape our Texas strategy, build relationships with lawmakers, and coordinate with the legal and policy teams.
The role emphasizes high ownership, coalition building, and timely monitoring of session activities, rulemakings, and policy developments affecting distributed energy resources in Texas.
Location: Austin, Texas
Base is America's next-generation power company. We're rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization–electricity–by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today's fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.
Base is hiring a specialist to manage Base Power's Texas government relations. The role would entail becoming the face of Base in the Texas legislature (and, depending on experience, the PUCT and ERCOT), building relationships at the state and local level, spearheading policy changes that will facilitate the Company's growth across Texas, and monitoring the legislative and regulatory environment. This is a high-ownership role on a small team—the person who takes it will help set Base's Texas legislative strategy, construct coalitions, and manage internal and external resources to effect change.
You'll be a member of the Legal, Regulatory, Policy team and will work closely with other teams across the Company to understand our products and priorities.
Policy is a small, high-ownership function inside Legal, Regulatory, and Policy (LRP). We exist to shape the rules of the road–working with state legislatures, utility commissions, and other agencies to build a regulatory environment where distributed energy resources can be fully utilized to increase energy reliability and affordability for everyday Americans. Our work sits at the intersection of policy, politics, and grid infrastructure, and the outcomes we drive help set the bounds of Base's success.
Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.
