Job summary

The State Auditor's Office seeks Staff Auditor Interns to assist in all phases of audits, including fieldwork, report preparation, and related duties. You may be assigned to various audits or special projects requiring audit assistance.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in an accredited college, pursuing a bachelor's degree in accounting or related areas, with a preference for CPA licensure progression. Travel and vehicle availability may be required.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in college with intent to obtain a bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, business administration, or related field.
  • Willingness to pursue CPA licensure or meet Missouri Board requirements upon graduation is preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to learn Government Auditing Standards and governmental accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Complete duties assigned by Auditor In Charge including fieldwork, report prep, and related administrative tasks.
  • Develop auditor judgement and independent thinking to accomplish objectives.
  • Identify laws, regulations, contracts or grants provisions significant to audit objectives.
  • Evaluate internal controls and assist in planning the audit.
  • Prepare written findings and assist in drafting audit reports.
