Job summary

The Government and Infrastructure Assurance practice at EY is seeking an Analyst to join the McLean-based team, supporting federal, state, local and education clients with assurance services. You will learn business processes and data flows to deliver a high-quality client experience and help grow the practice.

As day-to-day contact, you'll build relationships, stay informed on industry developments, and collaborate with colleagues to apply audit techniques while meeting security and clearance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or graduate degree and approximately 1 year of related work experience.
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Ability to obtain and maintain secret clearance.
• CPA certification coursework readiness.
• Strong project management and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel 25-30% in a hybrid environment.

The opportunity

Our Government and Infrastructure Assurance practice is growing exponentially, and as an analyst, you'll play a key role in that growth. Together with our substantial investments in technology, knowledge, and learning resources on behalf of our audit professionals, this commitment will enable us to deliver quality assurance services to our clients and their stakeholders. Your key responsibilities

The nature of this role means that you will be recognized as a primary day-to-day contact for our clients. That means you'll develop your knowledge by learning about current issues, profession, and business developments relevant to the client's industry, so we'll look to you to build relationships and expertise with team members.

Skills and attributes for success

• Recognize potential audit issues or unusual relationships from analysis of the financial statements and communicate them to the assurance team
• Clearly and accurately document the execution of specific audit procedures as defined by the engagement objectives, audit client's engagement history, and planned audit approach
• Challenge procedures used in the past and attempt to enhance audit techniques
• Demonstrate professionalism and competence in the audit client's environment
• Maintain a strong client focus, be responsive to client requests, and develop/maintain productive working relationships with client personnel
• Stay informed of current business/economic developments relevant to the client's business
• Collaborate with assurance team members to set goals and responsibilities
• Contribute ideas/opinions to the assurance teams and listen/respond to other team members' views
• Use technology to continually learn, share knowledge with assurance team members, and enhance service delivery
• Bring potential opportunities to the assurance team's attention

To qualify for the role you must have

• A bachelor's or graduate degree and approximately 1 year of related work experience
• A degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Must be able to obtain and maintain secret clearance or higher
• Sufficient course work to achieve CPA certification upon passing the examination
• Excellent project management skills
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills
• Dedication to teamwork and leadership
• Due to the nature of our work in the Government and Infrastructure, work may be required to be completed at client, EY and/or contractor sites. Our goal is to assign professionals to projects within a commutable distance of their work location office. In certain circumstances, travel may be required beyond your work location based on client and project needs. Candidates should be willing to travel on average 25% to 30% or more in a hybrid environment.

Ideally, you'll also have

• CPA licensure in your work state
• CGFM and/or CDFM

• We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job is:
• New York City, Boston, and Washington DC Metro Areas, Washington State, and Southern California offices – $149,051 to $261,548
• Bay Area California offices – $155,254 to $272,454
• All other offices locations in the US, including Sacramento – $124,255 to $239,757
• Individual salaries within these ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
