Job summary

Association Management Center (AMC) is seeking a Governance and Operations Manager to support CAATE governance and organizational operations. The role ensures boards, committees, and processes are organized, documented, and on schedule, translating priorities into reliable workflows with budgeting oversight.

The position is 30 hours per week, primarily remote, with onsite access near Schaumburg, IL. It offers hybrid work and collaboration across a national nonprofit client base.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years in operations, governance, or nonprofit management.
  • Experience supporting boards, committees, or volunteer groups.
  • Ability to manage governance calendars and annual processes.
  • Budget support experience and financial reporting skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe and Zoom.

Responsibilities

  • Support administration of boards and committees with ED oversight.
  • Staff liaison to committees; contribute to goals and projects.
  • Maintain governance infrastructure and meeting preparations.
  • Oversee governance docs, bylaws, and SOPs under ED guidance.
  • Lead annual cycles: nominations, elections, awards, onboarding.

About the Role

The Governance and Operations Manager supports the Commission onAccreditation of Athletic Training Education, (CAATE)’s governance andorganizational operations by ensuring that board, committee, andoperational processes are well organized, documented, and completed onschedule. Working with the Executive Director, this role maintainsgovernance systems, supports recurring annual processes, coordinatesoperational follow-through, assists with budget development andmonitoring, and supervises the Operations Coordinator. The positionhelps translate CAATE’s priorities into clear workflows, reliabledocumentation, and timely execution.

This role is 30 hours per week and is primarily remote. Employees whoreside within 50 miles of Schaumburg, IL will work onsite up to oneday per month. Fully remote employees will also be considereddepending on location.

Role Responsibilities

  • In partnership with the Executive Director (ED), supportadministration of the Board of Commissioners, the ExecutiveCommittee, and the Finance/Governance Committee.
  • Serve as staff liaison to committees, providing administrativesupport and contributing to strategic goals and projects.
  • Maintain governance infrastructure, including the annualgovernance calendar, Board and committee workplans, StandardOperating Procedures documentation, action-item tracking, meetingpreparation timelines, electronic vote logistics, and follow-up documentation.
  • Maintain the Policies and Procedures manual, bylaws, and relatedgovernance documentation under ED’s oversight.
  • Own annual-cycle governance processes, including nominations andelections, calls for awards, calls for volunteers, Board onboardinglogistics, and governance-related communications workflows.
  • Organize budgeting and financial reporting processes including thedevelopment and presentation of key financial metrics.
  • Under direction of the ED, translate strategic plans andpriorities into operational plans with budgeted/allocated resourcesand monitor progress.
  • Supervise the operations coordinator through leadership andoversight, ensuring accountability, clarity of responsibilities, andhigh-quality deliverables.
Experience and Skills

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in operations,governance, association or nonprofit management, accreditationadministration, or a related role.
  • Previous supervisory experience required.
  • Experience supporting and leading boards, committees, or othervolunteer-led groups.
  • Experience coordinating recurring governance or operationalprocesses, such as nominations, elections, volunteer calls,awards, or annual calendar workflows.
  • Experience supporting budget preparation, expense tracking,financial reporting, or vendor related administrative processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and Zoom required.Experience with survey and nominations and elections software ishighly valued.
  • Ability to travel out of state and overnight 1-3 times per yearby all modes of transportation including car, plane, and train.
  • Physical: This role is primarily desk-based and involvesextended computer use, including typing, data review, and virtualcommunication. Occasional light lifting may be required. AMCprovides reasonable accommodations to support employees inperforming the essential functions of the role.

Compensation:

  • $52-$60K annually. Within this range, individual pay is determinedby relevant factors, including job-related skills, experience,market data, work location, and education or training.

Location:

  • This is a hybrid role based in Schaumburg, IL. Employees within 50miles are expected onsite approximately one day per month, withoccasional additional visits as needed. Candidates residing morethan 50 miles away may be considered for remote work, depending onbusiness needs and location eligibility.
