Battleground Texas Engagement Fund is seeking a GOTV Deputy Field Organizer (Part-Time) to mobilize voters in the Rio Grande Valley. You will canvass, recruit volunteers, and manage family of community leaders while using MiniVAN and other tools.

In-person attendance is required, with 18–29 hours weekly, including evenings and weekends. This paid role offers a $24/hour wage with a weekly travel commitment through November 11, 2026.

GOTV DEPUTY FIELD ORGANIZER

Position: GOTV Deputy Field Organizer (Part-Time)

Battleground Texas Engagement Fund is a 501 c (4) organization dedicated to civic engagement and voter registration as tools to build stronger communities. We believe that regular people like us can significantly impact elections, and we’re expanding the electorate by registering voters and mobilizing Texans to engage in the civic process.

Job Description

The primary responsibility of a GOTV Deputy Field Organizer is to organize in their communities and neighborhoods by turning out new voters. Their responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• executing voter turnout events outside and sometimes inside for several hours
• block walking/canvassing in communities and neighborhoods in both Hidalgo & Cameron County
• management of volunteers
• building relationships with community leaders
• entering data into miniVAN and ensuring data integrity

This job requires the ability to carry folding tables weighing approximately 35lbs, set up canopy tents, occasionally crowd canvass at events for several hours at a time, and participate in neighborhood block walks with an average 3-6 hours of near-constant walking. Time in this position will be spent the majority of the time canvassing door-to-door in neighborhoods to turn out registered voters with potentially a few hours a week spent on phone banking and text banking. In-person attendance is required.

Essential Duties

• Canvass door-to-door in target neighborhoods and precincts using MiniVAN smartphone application or similar smartphone application.
• Phone and text banking for voter turnout.
• Check in with leadership at the beginning of canvassing shift and check out when shift is complete.
• Provide detailed daily reports to regional leadership.
• Meet metrics-based goals as set by organization leadership.
• Volunteer management & recruitment.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Regular local travel required.
• Must be available Friday October 9, 2026, for in person training.

Skills & Qualifications

• There are no formal education requirements for this position
• Ideal candidate is a registered Texas voter who resides in the Rio Grande Valley
• Spanish‑speaking candidates are encouraged to apply
• Access to reliable transportation and driver's license
• Candidate must have a desire to learn and a willingness to receive feedback
• Candidates must be self-motivated and have strong interpersonal skills, experience meeting deadlines, the ability to manage many tasks simultaneously and attention to detail
• Authenticity in your commitment to organizing as a means for building power for communities of color and young people in Texas
• Commitment to Battleground Texas’ mission and our organizational values, goals, and objectives
• Experience growing up or working in diverse communities and a demonstrated commitment to diversity and empowerment
• Experience using databases to track and review data

You’re a great fit if, in addition to the above, you:

• Have previous experience canvassing or knocking on doors
• Campaign experience is a plus
• Love to meet and exceed personal goals you set for yourself
• Use checklists in your personal life and/or enjoy color coding
• Have a preferred, tried and true method for organizing large stacks of paper or literature
• Have spent many years in the community you’re applying to work in
• Familiarity with EveryAction, Mobilize, Google suite, and other campaign databases

Compensation

All Deputy Field Organizers will be paid $24/Hour and will be required to work a minimum of 18 hours per week. Pay days are on the 15th and last day of each month. Daily gas stipend is also included for every day you work.

Time Commitment

Due to the nature of the role, the ability to work evenings and weekends is required. We ask that you work between 18-29 hours per week. This position will end on November 11, 2026.

Travel

Regular local travel, in both Hidalgo and Cameron counties, to get to regional community events, neighborhoods, BGTX offices and launch locations, will be required.

Hiring Timeline
