Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (BA) from four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training.
• Class A member of PGA/LPGA.
• Ability to read and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Teach fundamentals of the golf swing as established by Director of Instruction.
• Design and implement marketing ideas to promote golf instruction and generate revenue.
• Oversee range setup and equipment; maintain driving range and lesson tee.
• Instruct and assist in development of qualified assistants; conduct monthly clinics.
• Coordinate and teach clinics weekly; liaison with Golf Digest and Troon Golf Institute.
• Create lesson plans and manage staff hiring, training, and performance.
• Monitor manpower, productivity, costs and other expenses; ensure safe work practices and reliable attendance.

Sarasota National Club, located in Venice, FL, is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for afull-time Golf Teaching Professional! We are seeking a motivated individual who is interested in contributing to a positive experience for our members and guests while continuing togrow their knowledge of golf club operations. As an associate ofTroon, you’ll contribute to a global leader in golf and community management.

General Purpose:

Promotes golf club through instructional programs, clinics and schools. Educates all students in the proper fundamentals of all aspects of the game.

• Teaches the fundamentals of the golf swing as established by the Director of Instruction.
• Designs and implements marketing ideas to promote golf instruction and bring in additional revenues to the club.
• Oversees range set-up and equipment. Helps to maintain general upkeep of the driving range, lesson tee and storage shed.
• Promotes all club golf activities including junior golf clinics.
• Instructs and assists in the development of qualified and certified assistants. Educates teaching staff throughout the golf season with monthly clinics and/or roundtable sessions.
• Coordinates and teaches clinics on weekly basis.
• Act as a liaison between Golf Digest and the Club regarding golf school schedules, needs, and equipment.
• Maintains an up-to-date inventory of all teaching aids on property including video equipment.
• Assists Director of Instruction with Golf Digest Schools and Troon Golf Institute.
• Assists in the creation of lesson plans.
• Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Manages department members that may include, but is not limited to: Assistant and Associate Golf Professionals and Guest Services Attendants.
• Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. Develops ongoing training programs.
• Monitors business volume forecast and plans accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs and other expenses.
• Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
• Regular and reliable attendance.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (BA) from four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience (Multi-course facilities may require more experience).

Physical Demands:

Regularly stands, walks and sits. Occasionally climbs or balances; stoops, kneels, crawls or crouches. Frequently uses hands; reaches with hands and arms. Frequently talks or hears; tastes or smells. Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.

Occasionally works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather). Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. Noise level is moderate.

Certificates/Licenses:

Class A member of PGA/LPGA.

Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:

• Ability to read and speak English is required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates are required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with computerized POS and tee time system.
