Job summary

Louisville Metro Government is seeking a Grounds Worker to assist in the daily operation of golf courses, ball fields, and cemeteries. The role involves applying fertilizers and pesticides under supervision and developing work sequences independently.

Responsibilities include inspecting course conditions, scheduling maintenance, operating and repairing equipment, calibrating spray gear, and supporting irrigation systems.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two years of golf course or grounds maintenance experience, including six months as lead.
• Must be certified as a Pesticide Applicator in Kentucky or obtain within one year of employment.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Kentucky driver’s license.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
• Two (2) years of golf course or grounds maintenance experience, including six months experience as a leadman for a work crew.

EQUIVALENCY: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Must be certified as a Pesticide Applicator in the State of Kentucky or obtain within one year of employment (KRS 217B).
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work
• Lifts and carries items weighing up to 70 pounds
• Lifts and carries items weighing over 70 pounds in a team setting
• Spends prolonged periods of time sitting, standing, walking, carrying, stooping and climbing
• Spends prolonged periods of time exposed to the elements
