Job summary

Omni Amelia Island Resort & Spa in Florida is seeking a dedicated Golf Course Maintenance Foreman to lead a grounds crew and uphold championship-level playing conditions.

You will supervise mowing, irrigation, and landscape tasks, plan schedules, ensure safety, and contribute to the resort's commitment to exceptional service.

Candidates should have 5+ years in golf course maintenance with supervisory experience and a strong record of team leadership.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in golf course or grounds maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to delegate tasks and hold team members accountable.
• In-depth knowledge of turfgrass management and landscape maintenance.
• Proficiency in operating and maintaining turf equipment (mowers, tractors, etc.).
• Working knowledge of irrigation systems and basic troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with chemical and fertilizer application; licensure preferred but not required.
• Attention to detail to identify turf and plant health issues early.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and snow events.
• Basic understanding of golf and how it influences maintenance.

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Golf Course Maintenance Foreman to support daily operations and lead a grounds crew in delivering championship-level playing conditions and resort-quality landscaping. This leadership role is vital to executing the Superintendent's agronomic vision while ensuring all golf course and surrounding grounds are maintained to the highest standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, train, and motivate the golf course maintenance crew to perform daily duties efficiently and safely.
• Execute and oversee all golf course maintenance practices including mowing, edging, bunker maintenance, irrigation, and daily course setup.
• Manage landscape maintenance for resort grounds including weeding, pest control, and plant care (interior and exterior).
• Plan and assign work schedules; inspect ongoing and completed tasks to ensure quality standards are met.
• Implement and oversee weed control programs and ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards.
• Conduct daily walk-throughs of the course and grounds; lead daily crew meetings to review assignments and expectations.
• Maintain basic financial oversight within scope of responsibility, including ordering tools, supplies, and managing inventory.
• Provide input into the annual business plan and ensure efficient resource utilization.
• Ensure team compliance with safety protocols; coordinate proper safety training and certification for all staff.
• Be present and actively assist during snow events unless excused by the Director of Grounds Maintenance.
• Provide exceptional internal and external customer service aligned with resort and guest service standards.

• Must be reliable, punctual, and available to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and snow events as needed.
• Basic understanding of the game of golf and how it influences maintenance practices.

Physical Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must be able to stand up to 60 minutes per hour worked.
• Must be able to walk, climb, bend/stoop, reach overhead, and perform repetitive hand/arm movements up to 30 minutes per hour.
• Must be able to lift and carry over 40 pounds, including overhead lifting, pushing, pulling, and other physical tasks.
