Job summary

Springfield is seeking seasonal, part-time maintenance staff to care for the City’s golf courses. Responsibilities include mowing greens, tees, and fairways, floral work, trash removal, and equipment cleaning, performed under supervision at Veteran's Memorial Golf Course and Franconia Golf Course.

Applicants should have basic knowledge of safety procedures and possess or be pursuing a high school diploma; one year of golf course experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year golf course maintenance experience preferred.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and hazards.

Responsibilities

• Mows and maintains greens, tees, fairways and roughs.
• Plants, transplants flowers; weeds and waters flower beds.
• Picks up trash and empties bins.
• Cleans machinery and tools.
• Performs related maintenance tasks as required.

Job description

This is seasonal, part-time work in the maintenance of the City’s golf courses. Work is performed under supervision, in accordance with standard practices and procedures. No supervision is exercised over other employees.

This posting is for positions at both the Veteran's Memorial Golf Course and Franconia Golf Course.

• Maintains golf courses by cutting grass, tees, fairways and greens
• Plants and transplants flowers; weeds and waters flower beds
• Picks up trash and empties trash bins
• Cleans machinery and tools
• Performs related work as required

• Considerable knowledge of the standard practices, materials, tools, equipment, and processes and techniques of the work performed
• Considerable knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions involved in work performed
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and facility users
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
• Skill in the use and care of tools, equipment, and materials employed in the work performed

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• One year experience in golf course or similar maintenance preferred
