Job summary

Chevy Chase Club is seeking a Greenkeeper to maintain the golf course to the highest standards. You will operate maintenance equipment, follow safety policies, and contribute to a positive team environment.

Early shifts are common, with weekends/holidays as scheduled and overtime during the growing season or events. Prior golf course maintenance is preferred but not required; a valid driver’s license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous golf course maintenance, landscaping, or groundskeeping experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 pounds, walking, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Mow greens, tees, fairways, approaches, roughs, and practice facilities.
• Change golf course cups and tee markers as directed.
• Rake and maintain bunkers to club standards.
• Trim around trees, bunkers, sprinkler heads, and landscape features.
• Operate walk-behind and riding mowers, utility vehicles, string trimmers, blowers, and other maintenance equipment.
• Assist with irrigation repairs and hand watering when required.
• Apply fertilizer, topdressing, seed, and other turf products under supervision.
• Assist with aeration, verticutting, overseeding, and other cultural practices.
• Remove debris, leaves, and storm damage from the golf course.
• Monitor course conditions and report turf, irrigation, drainage, or equipment issues to supervisors.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Follow all safety procedures, including the proper use of PPE.
• Perform other golf course maintenance duties as assigned.

Job Description – Greenkeeper

Position Title: Greenkeeper
Department: Golf Course Maintenance
Reports To: Assistant Superintendent / Golf Course Superintendent / Director of Agronomy

Position Summary

The Greenkeeper is responsible for maintaining the golf course to the highest standards expected by the membership of Chevy Chase Club. This position performs a variety of golf course maintenance tasks to ensure exceptional playing conditions while operating equipment safely, following all club policies, and contributing to a positive team environment.

Compensation

Hourly Pay: $18.00–$22.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
