Tech Mirrors seeks Go (Golang) engineers with deep OSS package ecosystem expertise to manage complex package upgrades across large codebases in a hybrid Redmond/Frisco setup. This contract role pays $60/hr on a C2C basis, targeting 7+ years of experience.

The team handles dependency analysis, API migrations, and build/test engineering within CI pipelines, with focus on automation and upstream collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Strong software engineering experience in Go (Golang).
  • Deep understanding of Goroutines, Channels and concurrency patterns.
  • Experience with memory management and context propagation.
  • Ability to handle error strategies in production-grade apps.
  • Proficient with Go Modules, GOPROXY and dependency resolution.
  • Experience with semantic versioning, package publishing and OSS maintenance.
  • Proficient in Build & CI/CD pipelines and related tooling.
  • Hands-on with Bazel, Go Build, Go Test, GitHub Actions and Jenkins.
  • Experience with large-scale build environments and migration engineering.
  • Expertise in Git, monorepos and repository management.
  • Familiarity with Copybara or similar tools.
  • Linux systems expertise and container tech (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Cloud-native development practices.
  • Experience upgrading OSS, contributing to Go projects, and dealing with supply-chain security.

Responsibilities

  • Perform version upgrades of Go open-source packages across large codebases.
  • Analyze package dependencies and transitive dependency chains.
  • Assess compatibility impact of package upgrades on consuming apps.
  • Drive package modernization and retirement of obsolete dependencies.
  • Manage end-to-end package migration activities.
  • Investigate dependency conflicts and version incompatibilities.
  • Resolve issues from indirect and nested dependencies.
  • Analyze API deprecations and breaking changes from upgrades.
  • Create remediation plans for compatibility issues.
  • Develop migration strategies for large ecosystems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve code breaks from package migrations.
  • Modify Go apps and libraries to align with updated APIs.
  • Perform root cause analysis of runtime, functional, and integration failures.
  • Develop fixes for OSS-related defects and upstream contributions.
  • Diagnose and resolve build failures from upgrades.
  • Fix unit/integration/regression test failures.
  • Ensure CI/CD pipelines validate changes.
  • Resolve failures in presubmit validations.
  • Improve build reliability and automation for migrations.
  • Manage Copybara configurations and sync workflows.
  • Troubleshoot repo synchronization and code migration issues.
  • Resolve merge conflicts and code integration challenges.
  • Support source movement between internal/external repos.
  • Create and maintain local patches for package compatibility.
  • Track upstream fixes and retire local patches when possible.
  • Manage patch lifecycle and release readiness.

Role: Go (Golang) Engineers with OSS Package Ecosystem

Key Responsibilities
Open Source Package Upgrade Management
  • Perform version upgrades of Go open-source packages across large codebases.
  • Analyze package dependencies and transitive dependency chains.
  • Assess compatibility impact of package upgrades on consuming applications.
  • Drive package modernization and retirement of obsolete dependencies.
  • Manage end-to-end package migration activities.
Dependency Analysis & Remediation
  • Investigate dependency conflicts and version incompatibilities.

  • Contribute improvements and fixes to upstream open-source projects where appropriate.
Build & Test Engineering

  • Ensure successful execution of CI/CD validation pipelines.
  • Resolve failures identified during global presubmit validation processes.
  • Improve build reliability and automation around package migration workflows.
Copybara & Source Synchronization
