Job summary

CU Boulder is seeking a Guidance, Navigation, & Control (GNC) Systems Test Engineer to join the spacecraft team for a deep space mission launching in early 2028. The role centers on owning the GNC test program from hardware integration through LEOP, coordinating with Cognizant Engineers, and ensuring safe, successful testing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a physical science, engineering, or related field.
  • 5 years of directly relevant work experience with a bachelor's degree; 3 years with a master's; PhD years vary.
  • Experience with scripting languages and ability to develop test procedures and scripts.
  • Experience with simulation environments such as Basilisk and with test automation.

Responsibilities

  • Own and implement the GNC test program from hardware integration through launch and LEOP.
  • Perform Assembly, Integration, and Test on the GNC subsystem, including sensors and actuators.
  • Develop test procedures and scripts for GNC tests, LPT, CPT, and Spacecraft Phasing Tests.
  • Coordinate with GNC Cognizant Engineers to design procedures and sequences.
  • Serve as the primary contact during GNC test execution and ensure safety of personnel and flight hardware.
  • Work with QA to monitor for test failures and hardware issues and lead anomaly resolution.
  • Contribute to mission scenario and fault testing and LEOP preparedness.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned.
