Job summary

Rocket Lab USA is seeking a GNC Engineer II - Mission Formulation to join the Mission Formulation Team. You will conduct trade studies, mission analyses, and define detailed designs for launch programs, supporting both standard launches and classified missions.

Based out of our US offices, you’ll develop trajectories, perform Monte Carlo analyses, support HITL testing, and help translate customer requirements into robust GNC solutions while coordinating with suppliers and other engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in GNC/ADCS or related field and 2+ years of industry experience.
• Knowledge of orbital mechanics and closed-loop control systems, preferably launch vehicles.
• Experience with trajectory optimization and real-time control/estimation algorithms.
• Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide GNC design, modeling, analyses, and testing for Rocket Lab launches.
• Perform trade studies and mission analyses for launch programs.
• Design and implement trajectories for orbital/suborbital missions.
• Collaborate with Business Development for proposals and mission definition.
• Develop HITL testing, Monte Carlo simulations, and flight code release.
• Create tools for automating GNC modeling and analysis.
