Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a GNC Engineer: Actuators (Level 3 or 4) to join our Flight Sciences group in Chandler, AZ. This on-site role contributes to actuation systems for launch vehicle and space development programs, operating on a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off.

The role requires hands-on experience in actuator analysis and modeling, plus proficiency in C++, MATLAB, Simulink, and Python, and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience or advanced degree.
  • Hands-on actuator analysis, modeling and simulation experience.
  • Experience with electromechanical and/or electro-hydraulic actuation systems.
  • Experience with control system analysis or design, including PID-based approaches.
  • Proficiency with C++, MATLAB, Simulink, and Python.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply actuator system models in MATLAB, Simulink, C++, and Python.
  • Analyze and simulate electromechanical and electro-hydraulic actuation systems.
  • Support actuator control system design, including PID approaches.
  • Compare simulations to test data and update models to improve correlation.
  • Develop actuator performance requirements and review test data.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to meet program goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.
