About the Role:

The GM Certified Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of General Motors vehicles by performing expert diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs. This position requires a deep understanding of GM vehicle systems, including electrical, mechanical, and computer-controlled components, to accurately identify and resolve issues. The technician will work closely with service advisors and customers to communicate findings and recommend necessary repairs or maintenance. By adhering to GM’s standards and utilizing the latest diagnostic tools and technology, the technician helps maintain customer satisfaction and brand loyalty. Ultimately, this role contributes to the overall success of the dealership or service center by delivering high-quality workmanship and efficient service turnaround times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working on automotive repair and maintenance, preferably with GM vehicles.
• Strong knowledge of automotive electrical and mechanical systems.
• Ability to use diagnostic equipment and software specific to GM vehicles.

Preferred Qualifications:

• ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certifications.
• Experience with hybrid and electric GM vehicles.
• Completion of advanced GM technical training programs.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to mentor junior technicians.

Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on GM vehicles using approved tools and procedures.
• Conduct routine maintenance services such as oil changes, brake inspections, and tire rotations in accordance with GM guidelines.
• Interpret technical service bulletins, wiring diagrams, and repair manuals to accurately troubleshoot vehicle issues.
• Maintain detailed and accurate records of all services performed and parts used.
• Communicate effectively with service advisors and customers to explain vehicle issues and repair options.
• Stay current with GM training programs and certifications to ensure compliance with evolving vehicle technologies.
• Ensure all work meets GM quality standards and safety regulations.
