Job summary

Johnson & Johnson, New Brunswick, NJ, seeks a Global Transportation Spring Co-Op to join a dynamic logistics team. The program runs January to July 2027, is full-time (40 hours/week), and currently has 7 vacancies.

Qualifications

• Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year is required.
• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Finance, Engineering, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or related fields.
• Minimum GPA 2.8 or higher.
• Must not have any Summer Internship contract or other employment that could interfere with the contract dates.
• Minimum sophomore standing before the co‑op start date, with a graduation date after the contract end date.
• Clear communicator with strong collaboration and ownership skills.
• Analytical mindset for identifying trends and improvements.
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.

Purpose:

Purpose At Johnson & Johnson, Global Transportation blends logistics expertise with digital tools to partner with teams across the supply chain to deliver freight reliably, responsibly, and efficiently, supporting products that reach over a billion people every day. This role offers exposure to a global transportation network supporting the movement of healthcare products across air, ocean, parcel, and truckload modes.

In the Spring 2027 Co-Op, you'll use transportation data to uncover trends, support execution, and help modernize how work gets done through reporting, process optimization, automation, and technology adoption.

You will be responsible:

The Supply Chain Co-Op could be slotted to work in a variety of functional areas and roles across the Global Transportation department including, but not limited to, the following:

Business Process & Technology

• Lead/Own: Help modernize transportation workflows through process digitization, critical metric/dashboard reporting, and adoption enablement for transportation platforms and tools.
• Learn: How technology and automation improve operations; requirements gathering, user testing/UAT, change management, and what drives successful adoption.
• Deliver: Digital solutions and system enhancements (application development, dashboards, automation, workflow improvements, or documentation/training materials) that reduce manual effort, improve data quality, and create measurable business value.

International Logistics

• Lead/Own: Help drive end-to-end shipment visibility by monitoring key milestones, flagging risks, and supporting issue resolution with internal teams and logistics partners.
• Learn: How cross-border logistics works; Incoterms awareness, documentation basics, handoffs between partners, and what best-in-class looks like for service and compliance.
• Deliver: Clear status updates and actionable insights (e.g., lane performance, dwell time trends, recurring issues) that help the team improve reliability and reduce delays.

US Regional Logistics

• Lead/Own: Support day-to-day transportation execution by monitoring shipments, assisting with exceptions, and contributing to service-performance metrics such as on-time delivery, carrier performance, and critical issue management.
• Learn: How Global Transportation and extended teams keep freight moving when plans change; prioritization, problem-solving, and balancing cost, service, and speed.
• Deliver: Practical improvements such as dashboard metrics, enhanced reporting, and documented playbooks or SOP updates that improve consistency and execution efficiency.

Freight Audit & Pay

• Lead/Own: Support freight invoice validation by researching exceptions (duplicates, accessorials, rate variances), helping resolve disputes, and improving audit accuracy.
• Learn: How transportation spend is managed; rate validation fundamentals, invoice lifecycle, common billing issues, and how controls protect cost and compliance.
• Deliver: Actionable insights that reduce repeat issues (root-cause themes, supplier and carrier trends) plus enhanced exception tracking or process improvements.

Trade Operations & Compliance

• Lead/Own: Support global trade compliance activities by maintaining compliance tracking tools, monitoring key documentation requirements, assisting with export invoice preparation, and helping ensure transportation processes align with import/export regulations and company policies.
• Learn: How international trade, customs, and transportation compliance work together; export documentation requirements, regulatory controls, global shipping processes, and the critical role compliance plays in enabling reliable supply chains.
• Deliver: Accurate compliance reporting, export documentation support, and process improvements that increase visibility, strengthen controls, reduce compliance risk, and improve operational efficiency.

Qualifications / Requirements:

• Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year at an accredited University is required.
• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Finance, Engineering, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or related fields.
• Have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher, which is reflective of all college coursework.
• You must not have any Summer Internship contract or other employment commitment that could interfere with the contract dates specified for this position.
• Minimum sophomore standing before the co‑op start date, with a graduation date after the contract end date.
• Clear communicator who can write concise updates, summarize issues, and present findings in a simple, professional manner.
• Strong collaboration skills and comfort working with cross-functional teams.
• Strong ownership and organizational skills; able to keep work moving, communicate proactively, and deliver on commitments.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and recommend practical improvements.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment and adapting to changing priorities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
• Demonstrated curiosity and willingness to learn new technologies, Microsoft tools, automation solutions, and global transportation processes.

Preferred:

• Comfortable using AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to create effective prompts, summarize information, and improve productivity.
• Experience with data and analytics tools such as Excel (pivot tables, lookups), Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
• Exposure to basic SQL and/or Python for data analysis, reporting, automation, or process improvement.
• Exposure to automation and workflow tools such as Power Automate, Alteryx, VBA, Power Apps, or similar technologies through coursework, projects, or work experience.

Pay Transparency:

The expected pay range for this position is between $23.50 per hour and $52.50 per hour but will be based on candidate's program year, discipline, degree and/or experience. Co‑Ops/Interns are eligible to participate in Company sponsored employee medical benefits in accordance with the terms of the plan. Co‑Ops and Interns are eligible for the following sick time benefits: up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington, up to 56 hours per calendar year. Co‑Ops and Interns are eligible to participate in the Company's consolidated retirement plan (pension).
