Job summary

BD is a global medical technology leader and is seeking a Senior Export Logistics Specialist to manage export shipments and SAP/TMS coordination for assigned regions. The role requires collaboration with global teams, carriers, and BD plants to ensure compliant, timely deliveries.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years in export/logistics, ERP/EDI experience, and a strong regulatory understanding in medical devices or regulated industries.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 6 years in export/logistics/transportation/customer service.
• Experience in medical device, pharmaceutical or FDA regulated industries.
• 6 years with ERP systems (SAP, ECC, GTS, JDE), EDI and TMS/WMS.
• MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Manage and execute export shipments from distribution centers for assigned regions.
• Collaborate with WW Business, Regions and Carriers to improve transit efficiency.
• Communicate with customers and planners about order status, product info, credit and regulatory issues.
• Coordinate with supply chain, warehouses, traffic and other BD departments to ensure timely shipments.
• Ensure export procedures are followed as designed by BD plants, 3PLs, and logistics providers.
• Plan, coordinate, and optimize deliveries in SAP/TMS.
• Troubleshoot EDI transactions.
• Resolve discrepancies and implement process improvements; monitor KPI and GLPs in SAP.
• Provide training to new Customer Service Representatives.
• Serve as a resource on policies, procedures, and product/regulatory information.
• Cross-train on other accounts to assist workloads.
• Be adaptable and available for new assignments.

Job Description

This position is responsible for transportation planning and the daily export operations for assigned regions. This role interfaces with BDX/Bard affiliates, freight forwarders, DCs, plants, resolves discrepancies and proactively identifies improvement opportunities. Monitors, measure, and reports key performance Indicators on adherence to regulations and procedures in the conduct of export.

Responsibilities

• Manage and execute export shipments from distribution centers on a timely manner for the assigned regions.
• Team up with WW Business, Regions and Carriers to generate efficiencies and process improvements in transit duration.
• Proactively communicates with customer and planners regarding order status, product availability, product information, credit status, and regulatory issues.
• Coordinates activities with supply chain, warehouses, traffic and other BD departments and locations, as needed, to ensure timely shipments of orders.
• Ensure export procedures/processes are utilized as designed by BD plants, 3PL’s and logistics providers.
• Plans, coordinates, and optimizes deliveries in SAP/TMS
• Troubleshoot EDI transactions
• Resolve discrepancies, mitigate risks & implement process improvements on shipment process, transportation, monitors GLPs on time performance and daily KPI reports in SAP.
• Provides training to new Customer Service Representatives and Specialists.
• Acts as a resource to other department members regarding policies and procedures, and customer, product and regulatory information.
• Has been cross trained on other accounts/territories to assist with workloads, and to provide coverage during vacations/absences.
• Is adaptable and available to accept new assignments, or assist in other areas or departments, as required.

Required Education And Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline. A strong background in a related international/export role may be considered in lieu of education.
• Minimum of 6 years' experience in a similar role (export, logistics, transportation, customer service, etc.).
• Prior experience in a related industry (medical device, pharmaceutical, FDA regulated).
• Minimum of 6 years’ experience with ERP systems (SAP, ECC, GTS, JDE), EDI transactions, transportation/warehouse management systems.
• MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in standard business computer applications in SAP
• Certificate programs in International Logistics and Transportation, Export Operations, and global trade compliance certification a plus
• APICS certification or Six Sigma a plus
