Job summary

SMA America in Rocklin, California seeks a Transportation Analyst to support the Manager of Transportation and Planning by managing shipment tracking, in transit reporting, customs compliance, and system data maintenance in SAP. This advanced individual contributor role emphasizes accuracy, timely communication, and collaboration with carriers and internal teams.

The role requires 5+ years of experience in logistics, proficiency with MS Office, and knowledge of multiple carrier modes.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience on either the carrier or shipper side.
• Working knowledge of all carrier modes (air, parcel, ocean, etc.).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel/Access/PowerPoint.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy; customer service focus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supports import and export documentation in line with customs regulations, laws and procedures.
• Ensures products comply with CBP regulations using HTS and maintains SAP codes.
• Requests and compiles import documentation and liaises with government agencies.
• Validates broker invoices for payment and resolves disputes.
• Manages Large Scale project shipments from import through delivery to site.
• Maintains Transportation Management System data and records.
• Tracks KPIs for bill of lading, labels, and freight quotes.
• Performs data analysis on transportation costs and services.
• Works with internal stakeholders, customers and carriers.
• Provides training and shares expertise with team as needed.
• Keeps up to date with import/export laws and regulations.
