Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking a Surety Underwriting Intern to gain hands-on exposure to financial analysis, risk assessment, and relationship management.

During the 11-week program, you’ll learn how underwriters evaluate financial strength and support bonds for infrastructure and development, with structured training, mentorship, and opportunities to pursue the AF/SB curriculum.

The Details

As a Surety Underwriting Intern, you'll work alongside experienced underwriters to learn how surety bonds support economic growth, commercial development, and infrastructure projects. You'll gain hands-on experience in financial analysis, risk assessment, and relationship management while helping businesses secure the bonding capacity needed to pursue opportunities and fulfill contractual obligations. Throughout this 11-week internship, you'll develop an understanding of how underwriters evaluate financial strength, assess business risk, and make informed decisions that help customers grow and succeed. In addition to hands-on work, you'll participate in a structured internship experience that combines formal training, mentorship, job shadow opportunities, and professional development. You'll also be introduced to the Associate in Fidelity and Surety Bonding (AFSB) curriculum, gaining foundational knowledge of surety underwriting and the surety bonding process.

• This position may have in-office requirements depending on candidate location.

Our Summer 2027 Early Talent internships are a set 11-weeks in length, with 2 options for start/end dates. Limited exceptions to these start/end dates may be considered on a case-by-case basis: May 17, 2027 - July 30, 2027 or June 1, 2027 - August 13, 2027.
