Job summary

Allison Transmission is seeking a Global Supply Chain Intern for Summer 2027 in Indianapolis, IN. This role supports logistics, demand planning, and inventory management by analyzing data and improving operational efficiency.

You will create reports, perform cost analyses, and assist in supplier management and production planning while learning practical applications of supply chain theory in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an academic field related to Supply Chain, Data Analysis, Management, Engineering, or related tech fields.
• 1-3 years at an accredited college or university.
• Strong oral and written communication skills required.
• US Citizenship or Permanent Residency due to ITAR requirements.

Responsibilities

• Data analysis and reporting: validate, clean and manipulate supply chain data, create dashboards, track KPIs.
• Assist with supplier performance tracking and maintaining supplier databases.
• Coordinate with manufacturing, logistics, and procurement on inventory strategy and demand planning.
• Research technologies to improve supply chain workflows, reduce costs and inventory, and improve efficiency.
• Assist in design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes.
• Drive process efficiency and operational improvements.

Job Description

The Global Supply Chain Intern supports logistics, demand planning, and inventory management by analyzing data, managing supplier communications, and improving operational efficiency. Key tasks include creating reports, conducting cost analysis, and optimizing supply chain workflows to ensure on-time delivery. This role bridges academic knowledge with practical experience in demand planning, logistics, and manufacturing operations in accordance with product and quality standards.

• Data analysis and reporting: validate, clean and manipulate supply chain data, creating logistics dashboards, tracking KPIs, and developing reports.
• Supplier Management: Assist with supplier performance tracking and maintaining supplier databases.
• Operations support: Coordinate with manufacturing, logistics, and procurement teams on inventory strategy and demand planning.
• Process Optimization: Research emerging technologies to improve supply chain workflows, reduce costs/inventory, and improve efficiency.
• Work is of a technical nature where decisions are made within general practices and procedures, where supervision is available.
• Assist in the design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes.

• Education Requirement: College undergraduate or graduate status with 1-3 years at an accredited college or university, pursuing an academic field of study related to Supply Chain, Data Analysis, Management, Engineering, Engineering Technology, or other technological fields of study.
• Required Experience:

• Analytical ability to solve complex problems.
• Due to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Intern must be a United States Citizen or Permanent Resident.
