Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. offers a Future Talent Program internship in Supplier Development & Performance Management.

The 12-week program provides hands-on projects and exposure to continuous improvement methods, with collaboration across global teams to develop competency in supplier processes and risk mitigation. This internship emphasizes teamwork, problem solving, data collection and reporting, and opportunities to travel to supplier sites within the NJ/PA region during the summer.

Responsibilities

• Assist Supplier Development & Performance Management personnel using problem-solving skills, to conduct root cause investigations and implement Corrective Actions / Preventive Actions for supplier issues.
• Travel to supplier sites and our company sites within the region to resolve and prevent manufacturing, quality, technical and supply issues.
• Assist in the execution of Technical Capability Assessments (TCAs) for new and existing suppliers. Provide supplier up-skilling as required.
• Assist in the management of supplier risk mitigation plans (including on-site support, as needed) to ensure launch readiness and successful routine production.
• Perform gap analysis between specifications, methods, and equipment at suppliers vs. our company sites and mitigate gaps (e.g. Measurement System Analysis) to pro-actively reduce future deviations and supply issues.
• Set requirements / provide feedback for new systems or system enhancements.
• Work with critical suppliers to find creative solutions to solve delivery issues / component shortages.
