Job summary

The Michaels Companies Inc. is seeking a Global Sourcing Specialist to support the Global Sourcing Manager in implementing private brand sourcing strategies and achieving financial goals for assigned categories.

You will collaborate with internal and external partners to grow private label and manage data-driven projects. Responsibilities include data collection for RFPs, monitoring timelines, and assisting in vendor setup and cost negotiations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum 18 months office work or a college degree in retail, supply chain and international trade.
• Proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Strong communication and detail orientation.
• Ability to multitask and adapt in fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the Global Sourcing Manager to implement Private Brand Sourcing strategies to achieve company and assigned category business objectives.
• Support the Global Sourcing Manager for the growth of private label through collaboration with internal and external partners.
• Collect data and conduct analysis for projects including RFP.
• Monitor project timeline and alert partners if delays or problems arise.
• Assist in cost negotiation by collecting data from different sources.
• Relay shortages and delivery issues to merchant and inventory teams.
• Validate vendor setup paperwork and ensure vendor setup in system.
• Manage quote sheets and item setup with cross-functional partners.
• Serve as a liaison for day-to-day global sourcing operations with overseas offices and vendors.
• Coordinate cross-functional meetings and provide required documentation for transition meetings and vendor visits.

The Global Sourcing Specialist will play a significant role in supporting the Global Sourcing Manager to execute private brand sourcing strategies and meet the financial goals established by the company for assigned product categories.

Major Activities

• Support the Global Sourcing Manager to implement Private Brand Sourcing strategies to achieve company and assigned category business objectives.
• Support the Global Sourcing Manager for the growth of private label through effective collaboration with internal and external partners.
• Collect data and conduct analysis for projects including RFP.
• Monitor project timeline and alert appropriate partners if delays or problems arise.
• Support Global Sourcing Managers on cost negotiation by collecting data from different sources.
• Support the Global Sourcing Manager in relaying shortages and delivery issues to merchant and inventory team.
• Validate the vendor setup paperwork and ensure vendor set up in system successfully.
• Manage quote sheets and item setup process with cross functional partners to ensure accurate and timely execution.
• Serve as a key liaison for day-to-day global sourcing operations and work effectively with cross-functional partners at overseas offices and vendors.
• Help Sourcing Manager to coordinate cross-functional meetings while providing required documentations, for meetings such as transition meetings, and vendor visits.
• Other duties as assigned
