Job summary

Allied Steel Buildings seeks a Global Sourcing Manager to lead end-to-end global sourcing for steel, fabricated components, cladding materials, and indirect categories. You will drive RFQ/RFP processes, onboard strategic suppliers, and negotiate long-term agreements to optimize cost, lead times, and risk across USA and international projects.

Collaborate with Design/Engineering early in projects, align sourcing with technical requirements, and partner with Operations to ensure supply continuity

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Finance, or related field.
  • 8–12+ years of progressive strategic sourcing experience with at least 5 years in global sourcing across regions.
  • Demonstrated experience sourcing steel products, fabricated components, or related materials.
  • Proven track record managing global supplier bases across multiple regions.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience with complex supply agreements.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite) and advanced Excel/data analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and refine global category strategies for steel, fabricated components, cladding, coatings, and indirect categories.
  • Lead RFQ/RFP processes including bid strategy, supplier evaluation, TCO, and negotiations.
  • Identify, qualify, audit, and onboard strategic suppliers worldwide for USA, Spain, and international projects.
  • Negotiate long-term agreements covering price, lead times, payment terms, quality, and performance metrics.
  • Monitor global steel markets, capacity, tariffs, logistics, and geopolitical risks; adjust sourcing actions.
  • Own supplier relationship management with scorecards, business reviews, and continuous improvement.

Job Description

The Global Sourcing Manager is responsible for developing and executing end-to-end global sourcing strategies for steel, fabricated components, cladding materials, indirect spend categories, and critical commodities that support our design, fabrication, and project delivery operations.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and continuously refine global category strategies for structural steel (plate, sheet, tube, structural sections), fabricated components, cladding systems, coatings, fasteners, capital equipment, MRO, logistics, and other key direct and indirect categories.
  • Lead complex global RFQ/RFP processes, including bid strategy, supplier evaluation, total cost of ownership (TCO) and should-cost modeling, award recommendations, and contract negotiation/finalization.
  • Identify, qualify, audit, and onboard strategic suppliers worldwide, with emphasis on regions that support our USA and Spain manufacturing operations and international project requirements.
  • Negotiate and manage long-term agreements covering price, capacity commitments, lead times, payment terms, quality, risk allocation, and performance metrics.
  • Monitor and interpret global steel and commodity market dynamics, capacity constraints, tariff/trade developments, logistics trends, and geopolitical risks; translate insights into proactive sourcing actions and contingency plans.
  • Own strategic supplier relationship management, including performance scorecards, business reviews, continuous improvement programs, dual-sourcing strategies, and corrective action processes.
  • Partner closely with Design and Engineering early in the project lifecycle to align sourcing strategies with technical requirements, value engineering opportunities, and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Planning, and Project teams to ensure supply continuity, capacity assurance, and alignment with production schedules and project milestones.
  • Drive year-over-year cost savings, working capital optimization, and risk mitigation while maintaining quality and delivery performance.
  • Track, analyze, and report sourcing KPIs (cost savings, on-time delivery, quality, contract compliance, supplier risk) to senior leadership.
  • Support or lead cross-functional initiatives related to sustainability, supplier diversity, process standardization, and ERP/sourcing system optimization.
  • Mentor and develop junior sourcing/procurement team members as needed.

Travel internationally and domestically (approximately 20-30%) for supplier assessments, negotiations, and site visits as required.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and progressive work experience.
  • Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
  • 8-12+ years of progressive strategic sourcing, category management, or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years focused on global sourcing.
  • Demonstrated experience sourcing steel products, fabricated structural components, or related metal building/construction materials.
  • Proven track record managing global supplier bases across multiple regions (North America, Europe, Asia, Latin America, or similar).
  • Strong commercial negotiation skills and experience developing and administering complex supply agreements.
  • Solid understanding of steel markets, fabrication processes, manufacturing supply chains, and total cost of ownership principles.
  • Experience partnering with engineering and operations on technical and project-driven requirements.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite) and advanced Excel/data analytics tools; experience with e-sourcing platforms preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as CPSM, CSCP, CIPS, or equivalent strongly preferred.
