Job summary

CoxHealth in Springfield, MO is seeking a Float Medical‑Surgical Nurse to provide care for adult and geriatric patients with medical or surgical needs. The nurse will assess conditions, administer medications, monitor vital signs, and educate patients and families.

Required: graduate of an accredited nursing program with MO RN licensure; BSN preferred. Day shift, 36 hours per week, working through CoxHealth's Central Staffing Office.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program or NLN approved program.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• Active Missouri RN license required.

Responsibilities

• Float Medical-Surgical nurse manages care for adults/geriatrics with medical or general surgical conditions.

Job Description

The float Medical-Surgical nurse is responsible for managing the care of the adult or geriatric patient experiencing general medical conditions or general surgical procedures. The nurse must be able to assess patient condition, administer medications, change dressings, monitor vital signs, keep records and provide patients and families with support and education. The Medical-Surgical nurse maintains a wide array of medical care knowledge in order to care for a diverse group of patients.

Education

• Required: Graduate of an accredited nursing program or NLN approved program
• Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

Experience

• Preferred: Previous nursing experience
