Job description

Our culture encourages personal expression, open dialogue, and genuine connections, where you are valued, accepted and respected for who you are, allowing you to thrive both personally and professionally. This is how we aim to prevent, stop and cure diseases and ensure everyone has access to healthcare today and for generations to come. Join Roche, where every voice matters.

The Position

The Global Project Manager acts as the operational backbone of the Life Cycle, ensuring strategic traceability, transparency, and seamless team enablement. While leadership owns strategic decisions and empowered product teams own delivery, the POL ensures that strategy translates cleanly into execution through dependency visibility and operational intelligence.

By actively reducing friction, absorbing operational overhead, and integrating our operating model into daily workflows, the POL acts as a servant-leader. They shield the product core from administrative bureaucracy, guaranteeing the teams have the space and focus required for continuous product discovery and delivery.

The Opportunity
  • Life Cycle Strategic Traceability : Ensures a clean, continuous link between Portfolio Epics and Life Cycle goals, cascading this strategic context down to the product groups. This provides the alignment necessary for empowered teams to make autonomous, high-quality decisions.

  • Aggregated tooling & Friction Reduction: Maintains consistency across the Life Cycle’s execution systems (e.g., Jira, Orion, Monday.com). Ensures the consolidated tools accurately reflect the total state of work without pushing manual bureaucratic overhead down to the execution layer.

  • Single Source of Truth & Executive Visibility: Guarantees a reliable, consolidated data source for tracking the Life Cycle’s overall investments, business viability, capacity, and risks. Partners with Portfolio Management and Business Operations to provide executive leadership with "decision-ready" visibility, absorbing ad-hoc reporting requests to protect the teams.

  • Systemic Operational Flow : Analyzes operational metrics across the entire Life Cycle to proactively identify and resolve structural bottlenecks before they impact the delivery capabilities of individual product teams.

  • Operating Model Enablement: Drives the organic adoption of the RIS Operating Model (including PLCF and mQMS) at the Life Cycle level. Integrates these frameworks into standardized workflows to ensure compliance without overburdening the core product teams.

  • Life Cycle systemic Risk & Dependency Mitigation: Facilitates Life Cycle-level risk and opportunity management (ROMA) and coordinates critical integration points between different Life Cycles. Acts as a servant-leader to track high-level dependencies and remove cross-team impediments.

Additional Tasks
  • Cross-Life Cycle Coordination: Identifies and resolves critical dependencies and integration points across different Life Cycles, maintaining organizational coherence and minimizing flow disruptions.

  • Operational Framework Improvement: Continually refines and simplifies operational processes in close coordination with the RIS Business Operations & Strategic Planning team. This ensures we stick to our operational model while intentionally reducing the administrative burden on Product teams, improving overall flow, and fiercely protecting their space for innovation .

  • Strategic Alignment & Outcome Measurement: Establishes consistent frameworks for measuring business results (outcomes) rather than output. Maintains a clear connective thread from Strategy to Product Epics, allowing leadership to holistically evaluate progress while fully preserving the product teams' autonomy.

Who you are
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering or business related fields; higher level degree

  • Experience with Agile development practices and mindset

  • PMP Certification as well as SAFe Certification highly preferred

  • Minimum 5 years project management experience in the diagnostic, medical device, pharmaceutical or biotech industry leading complex new, product development and product care projects

  • Experience in companion diagnostic development, analytical and clinical validations and regulatory submissions or instrument development and program management is a plus

  • Experience in a regulated industry (e.g. FDA 21 CFR part 820, ISO 13485, ISO 9001)

  • Demonstrated effective management of projects or ARTs

  • 5%-15% travel involved
