Overview
Reporting to the Global Product Line Manager, this role applies strong technical and strategic product‑management capabilities to lead G&W Electric’s HV overhead switchgear portfolio, including lifecycle ownership and market development of the Viper‑HV 72 kV recloser and future HV solutions while ensuring alignment with the broader MV portfolio of reclosers, sectionalizers, and load‑break switches. The Global Product Manager drives roadmap execution, competitive positioning, and cross‑functional integration to achieve profitable growth, requiring deep familiarity with HV transmission applications and utility system requirements.
Responsibilities
Product Ownership
- Primary owner of specific products and solutions within the global HV product portfolio.
- Develop and drive the portfolio strategy and product and solution roadmap.
- Lead idea generation through Voice of Customer, market trends analysis, and competitor profiling, collaborating with GIST on market research.
- Participate in standards events, industry associations, and trade shows to provide guidance and influence.
- Assist in developing market segment intelligence and go‑to‑market plans for new products and solutions.
- Monitor industry trends to manage strategic plans accordingly.
- Support analysis of product portfolio P&L and strategic direction.
- Drive set‑up of new products, including pricing, inventory alignment with SCM, and creation of sales collateral and training materials.
- Manage pricing strategy for managed portfolio products and solutions.
New Product Development & Change Management
- Collaborate with NPD teams in the product development process for new products.
- Manage product and solution roadmaps in line with business and portfolio plans and drive internal communications.
- Lead projects adding enhancements to managed offerings to maintain profitable growth.
- Create and communicate value propositions and buyer personas.
- Support sales and marketing in lead identification and planning to close sales or support channel gaps.
- Collaborate with marketing communications to develop sales tools, training, and materials.
- Support monitoring and tracking of market success for new products and drive actions to enhance success.
Base Business Support
- Engage in product and solutions presentations as needed.
- Lead market‑driven forecast development with sales teams and enablement.
- Provide direction to TPMs and support sales teams on customer applications and opportunities.
- Collaborate on large bid strategy and approvals.
- Support cross‑functional teams in managing engineering, supply chain, quality, and operations issues.
- Lead monitoring of win/loss data and support pricing adjustments.
- Lead full product lifecycle management for managed offerings.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- 10+ years’ experience within the power industry in product management, engineering, sales, marketing, or related roles.
- Strong technical and commercial aptitude and experience managing engineered‑to‑order products.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
- Demonstrated capability to positively influence internal and external customers.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and oral.
- Collaborative, results‑oriented team player with conflict‑management skills.
- Ability to collaborate with and influence a global cross‑functional team.
- Proven skills in implementing direct customer communications without supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with high voltage electric power products.
- Experience working with global teams.
- Experience in a formal product management role with hardware products and solutions.
Physical Demands
- General office environment, computer use.
- Light lifting (occasionally, 25 lb or less).
- Travel 30%–40%, including monthly domestic and occasional international trips.
Compensation and Benefits
Typical pay is $114,512 – 151,668 annually. This position is eligible for participation in our Quarterly Incentive Pay Program.
