Job summary

Gruve is seeking an experienced Unix/Linux Compute Subject Matter Expert to lead L3 technical efforts and own operations for a global Unix/Linux estate. The role focuses on stability, security, patching, and capacity management across APAC/EMEA/NLAM, guiding L1/L2 teams and coordinating with Security, Database, Storage, Network, Cloud, and Applications.

Qualifications

• 8–12+ years of enterprise Unix/Linux infrastructure and production operations (as required).
• Hands-on Unix/Linux system administration experience.
• Expert knowledge of one or more: RHEL, Ubuntu, AIX, Solaris.
• Strong troubleshooting across OS, filesystem, processes, performance and services.
• OS patching, vulnerability remediation and CIS hardening experience.
• Knowledge of LVM, NFS, SSH, DNS, filesystem management, package management, cron.
• Experience in 24x7 production operations and ITIL-based incident/change management.
• Experience leading L1/L2 teams and handling major incidents.
• Scripting and automation using Shell, Python, Ansible or equivalents.

Responsibilities

• Provide L3 technical support for P1–P4 incidents and complex OS issues.
• Lead and guide L1/L2 Unix/Linux operations teams across global regions.
• Administer and troubleshoot RHEL, Ubuntu, AIX, Solaris environments.
• Own OS patching, patch compliance and vulnerability remediation.
• Perform CIS hardening and security baseline remediation.
• Manage OS performance, capacity, and resources (filesystem, CPU, memory, I/O).
• Support server build, configuration, lifecycle, and decommissioning activities.
• Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and permanent corrective actions.
• Support monitoring and disaster recovery activities and operational readiness.
• Develop and maintain runbooks, procedures, and technical documentation.
• Identify automation opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with Security, Database, Storage, Network, Cloud and App teams.
• Ensure consistent service delivery across the global follow-the-sun model.
