Job summary

Gibson Dunn, a leading global law firm, seeks an Intellectual Property Paralegal to support IP attorneys in the transactional department. Based in New York, Washington, D.C., or Orange County, the role reports to the Paralegal Supervisor/Director of Paralegal Services.

The IP Paralegal will manage trademark prosecution, portfolio maintenance, due diligence, and filings with USPTO, WIPO, TTAB, and foreign associates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and substantive paralegal experience.
• 5+ years experience in an Am Law 100 environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and file U.S. trademark applications and related filings.
• Oversee U.S. and international trademark portfolios.
• Conduct trademark availability searches and prepare summaries.
• Prepare cost estimates for filing domestic and foreign trademark applications and renewals.
• Draft and file IR/Madrid international applications, irregularity responses, subsequent designations, and WIPO renewals.
• Correspond with foreign associates to file national trademark applications and renewals.
• Prepare and file state trademark applications and renewals; record ownership transfers.
• Review and monitor dockets; track deadlines weekly and report.
• Conduct IP due diligence (trademarks, patents, copyrights, domains).
• Assist with TTAB proceedings.
