Hyundai Design Center - Head of Interior Design in Irvine, CA is a senior leadership role guiding interior and related vehicle design programs from concept to production. The position requires 15+ years in automotive design, with demonstrated success on production or concept vehicles and strong cross-functional collaboration across global teams.

The role includes design leadership, team mentorship, and close work with engineering, manufacturing, marketing, and product planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Automotive Design, Transportation Design, Industrial Design or related field.
• Minimum 15 years of professional automotive design experience.
• Experience leading vehicle design programs and collaborating with global teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead interior design programs from concept ideation through production release.
• Develop design proposals using sketches, renderings, and 3D models.
• Refine design themes to fit Hyundai's philosophy and brand strategy.
• Create digital data sets and production-feasible design solutions.
• Own design programs and provide direction throughout vehicle development.
• Mentor junior designers; lead design reviews and provide feedback.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Marketing and Product Planning.
• Coordinate with Namyang Design & Engineering teams in Korea and Michigan.
• Support management presentations and executive reviews.
• Develop digital models using Alias; create visualizations with Alias/Unreal/AI tools.
• Produce publication-ready imagery for press and marketing.
• Oversee clay/CAS models and vendor builds; travel up to 20%.
• Analyze trends; benchmark competitors; present findings to management.
