Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Global Indirect Tax Manager based in United States. The Global Indirect Tax Manager will play a key role in building and scaling a sophisticated global indirect tax function within a rapidly growing, technology-driven environment. This position will oversee critical U.S. and international indirect tax activities across both B2B and B2C revenue streams. You will translate complex tax requirements into practical business decisions, reliable systems, and scalable processes. The role offers broad exposure to sales and use tax, VAT/GST, digital services taxes, transactional taxes, and evolving digital reporting requirements. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams on new products, commercial initiatives, billing changes, and geographic expansion. Success requires a hands-on approach, strong technical judgment, and the ability to improve processes while maintaining robust compliance and controls. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a fast-moving organization where curiosity, ownership, and durable solutions are highly valued.

Accountabilities
  • Manage key elements of the global indirect tax function across B2B and B2C revenue streams, including U.S. sales and use tax, VAT/GST, digital services taxes, and other transactional taxes.
  • Oversee indirect tax registrations, return compliance, payments, exemption documentation, taxability determinations, and related controls across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Own and continuously improve indirect tax processes and systems, including product and taxability mapping, exemption management, transaction testing, system integrations, data validation, and issue resolution.
  • Serve as a cross-functional indirect tax partner for new products, commercial arrangements, billing changes, and geographic expansion initiatives.
  • Monitor and implement evolving e-invoicing, digital reporting, and real-time reporting requirements across applicable jurisdictions.
  • Perform indirect tax account reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, period-close activities, and internal control procedures.
  • Advise on indirect tax considerations within customer and vendor agreements, invoicing requirements, and available exemptions.
  • Manage indirect tax audits, notices, disclosures, and related interactions with tax authorities.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and evaluate their potential impact on the organization.
  • Develop scalable processes, automation, reporting metrics, and documentation that improve data quality, reduce manual work, and strengthen operational controls.
  • Contribute to broader Global Tax initiatives and support ad hoc projects as business priorities evolve.
Requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree in Tax, Accounting, or a related field is required.
  • At least 6 years of indirect tax experience in public accounting and/or a multinational corporate tax environment is required, including meaningful hands‑on operational experience.
  • Strong technical and operational experience with both U.S. and international indirect taxes across B2B and B2C transactions is essential.
  • Experience researching product and service taxability, registration and nexus obligations, place‑of‑supply rules, invoicing requirements, and exemptions is required.
  • Experience supporting indirect tax compliance, accounting, audits, and controls across multiple jurisdictions is highly valuable.
  • The ability to understand end‑to‑end transaction flows and translate tax requirements into practical processes, data requirements, and system configurations is essential.
  • Strong project‑management skills and experience supporting system changes or cross‑functional initiatives are expected.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, particularly the ability to explain complex tax matters clearly to non‑tax stakeholders.
  • The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and exercise sound judgment in a rapidly changing environment is important.
  • Strong attention to detail, ownership, curiosity, and a focus on developing durable solutions rather than temporary workarounds are highly valued.
  • Experience with Vertex is strongly preferred, particularly in rule or product mapping, transaction testing, integrations, configuration changes, data validation, reconciliations, and production troubleshooting.
  • Experience with another enterprise indirect tax engine may also be considered.
  • Experience supporting indirect tax matters within technology, digital media, advertising, subscriptions, SaaS, or other high‑volume transactional businesses is advantageous.
  • Experience implementing e‑invoicing, digital reporting, or real‑time reporting requirements is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ERP, billing, procurement, and financial‑reporting systems and the ability to analyze large transactional datasets is valuable.
  • Experience with automation or data tools such as Alteryx or SQL is beneficial.
  • A CPA, CMI, MST, JD, LLM, or comparable professional qualification is preferred.
  • A combination of public accounting and in‑house tax experience is advantageous.
Benefits
  • Base salary ranges from $154,700 to $216,600 USD, depending on factors such as skills, experience, and relevant credentials.
  • The position may also include equity in the form of restricted stock units and, depending on the career level, potential commission eligibility.
  • Comprehensive healthcare benefits and income replacement programs are provided.
  • A 401(k) program with employer matching is available.
  • Global benefits support areas such as workspace, professional development, and caregiving.
  • Family planning support is available.
  • Gender‑affirming care and mental health and coaching benefits are offered.
  • Flexible vacation and paid volunteer time off support work‑life balance.
  • Generous paid parental leave is provided.
  • The role offers exposure to global tax operations, technology‑driven systems, automation, and complex international business initiatives.
  • Employees have opportunities to contribute to broader tax transformation projects and develop their expertise in a dynamic, evolving environment.
