Job summary

University of Kansas (Applied English Center) seeks an untenured, non-tenure-track AEC Lecturer to teach in Lawrence and at ZJNU in China. The position includes summer work based on enrollment, with benefits eligibility and continuing appointment contingent on funding and review.

The lecturer will teach 15 credit hours weekly, develop syllabi, assess student work, maintain office hours, and participate in program development and admissions-related duties at KU and ZJNU.

Qualifications

• Master's degree (or Bachelor's with 5 years teaching experience) in TESL/TEFL/TESOL or related field.
• Excellent proficiency in English per Kansas Board of Regents policy.
• Ability and willingness to travel outside the U.S. for at least 8 consecutive weeks each academic year.

Responsibilities

• Teach 15 credit hours per week at the Applied English Center or International Short Programs on the Lawrence campus and at least one term per year at ZJNU in Jinhua, China.
• May have one 3-hour course release for other duties depending on unit needs.
• Teach assigned courses per published schedule.
• Develop syllabi, course materials, and curricula.
• Assess student work and provide timely feedback.
• Maintain office hours and attend AEC meetings and professional development sessions.
• Assist with administrative duties (proficiency testing, placement, advising, registration).
• Adhere to all unit and University policies.
