Job summary

Sun Chemical Corporation is seeking a Global Category Leader for Direct Materials based in Northlake, IL. Hybrid work arrangement with responsibility for strategic sourcing of key raw material categories including resins, solvents, colorants, and additives.

You will lead negotiations, develop category strategies, and drive TCO improvements across regions. The role requires 5+ years in procurement, global sourcing experience, and expertise in sustainable procurement practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of procurement responsibility.
• Experience in global procurement/sourcing with cross-cultural cost-reduction.
• Experience working with Ecovadis.
• Strong oral and written communication skills; highly organized and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent analytical and business acumen including cost modeling, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Experience with SAP is a plus; proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Manage key raw material sourcing categories with final accountability for regional/global spend.
• Lead strategy design for category and coordinate with regional leaders to meet requirements.
• Lead cross-functional teams to align sourcing strategies with regional business objectives.
• Analyze supply markets, supplier economics, and develop total cost of ownership programs.
• Drive initiatives for cost reductions, supplier diversification, and process improvements.
