Job summary

Cengage Group is seeking a Staff Accountant to join the Consolidations & Group Reporting team. You will contribute to accurate financial reporting for a global public company, supporting monthly close, reconciliations, and reporting processes.

The role requires 1–3 years of accounting or audit experience, a solid U.S. GAAP foundation, and strong Excel skills. Public accounting exposure and familiarity with SAP/BlackLine are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a similar area.
• 1–3 years of accounting, financial reporting, or audit experience.
• Public accounting experience preferred for publicly traded companies.
• Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
• Prepare assigned account reconciliations and schedules.
• Prepare One-Time Cost reporting and analysis.
• Prepare CTA reconciliations with supporting reports.
• Perform routine financial-data validations and system tie-outs.
• Run and refresh recurring financial reports.
• Assist with Balance Sheet analysis and documenting support.
• Follow up on close items and documentation.
• Assist with BlackLine tasks and controls.
• Maintain close and financial-reporting documentation.
• Support audit requests with reports and docs.
• Coordinate with teams to obtain supporting information.
