Job summary

Cengage Group, a global edtech leader, seeks a Staff Accountant for its Consolidations & Group Reporting team in the United States. You will contribute to accurate financial reporting and the consolidation process in a public company environment.

You will support month-end close, account reconciliations, and reporting, while collaborating across accounting and finance to ensure data integrity and timely close.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience.
• 1–3 years of accounting, financial reporting, or audit experience.
• Public accounting experience with publicly traded companies preferred.
• Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and basic financial statements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced close.

Responsibilities

• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
• Prepare assigned account reconciliations and schedules.
• Prepare One-Time Cost reporting and analysis.
• Prepare CTA reconciliations and supporting reports.
• Perform routine financial-data validations and system tie-outs.
• Run and refresh recurring financial reports.
• Assist with Balance Sheet analysis and item resolution.
• Follow up on open items and documentation.
• Assist with BlackLine tasks and controls.
• Prepare close and financial-reporting documentation.
• Support audit requests with reports and documentation.
• Research account/reporting differences and document findings.
• Coordinate with teams to obtain supporting information.
• Assist with testing and documenting new accounting processes.
