Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics seeks a senior clinical development leader to oversee Internal Medicine assets and obesity programs. You will head cross-functional teams across clinical, pharmacology, statistics, safety, and commercial, guiding study lifecycles from protocol design to submission.

The role requires extensive R&D experience, regulatory knowledge, and strong leadership to manage large teams and external partnerships, with a hybrid on-site work arrangement in San Diego.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO required.
  • 8+ years in clinical R&D (academia and/or biopharma).
  • Experience in chronic weight management/endocrinology/internal medicine; Phase 1–3 clinical development and translational medicine.
  • Extensive knowledge of global/regional regulation, ICH/GCP, adverse event management.
  • Demonstrated medical/administrative/project management; able to manage/train large teams.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as clinical point of accountability for assigned Internal Medicine assets; lead cross-functional Clinical Development Teams.
  • Create and endorse the Clinical Development Plan and protocol design; partner throughout study lifecycle.
  • Lead obesity portfolio clinical leadership (trial design, execution, reporting).
  • Lead governance reviews; provide therapy area expertise (CRF design, signal interpretation, AE contextualization).
  • Drive submission strategy and deliverables (IAP/IARP, submission TLFs; SCE/SCS; DSUR, PBRER; safety narrative plan; product label development/maintenance).
  • Contribute to target product profiles; support product defense.
  • Partner with external stakeholders (advisory boards, steering committees, DMC, adjudication committees, patients/advocates).
  • Support trial-level statistical analysis plan, TLFs, database release; review IIR proposals.
