Job summary

Fuller Theological Seminary invites applicants for the endowed Paul E. Pierson Chair in World Christianity, with a start date of July 1, 2027, in Pasadena, California.

The successful candidate will foster scholarly space for research on the global Christian movement within Fuller’s global and ecumenical framework. Responsibilities include graduate teaching in world Christianity, leadership of curriculum and partnerships, and mentoring doctoral and master’s students within traditional and online

Qualifications

• Demonstrated record of scholarly achievement appropriate for an endowed chair.
• Experience engaging theologians and practitioners across Asia, Africa, Latin America, and other non-Western contexts.
• Ability to teach in graduate programs and to use Canvas or similar LMS.

Responsibilities

• Graduate-level teaching in world Christianity, mission, and evangelism, in traditional and online modalities.
• Provide intellectual leadership shaping curriculum, faculty conversation, and institutional partnerships.
• Develop and lead conferences, symposia, lectures, and dialogues across denominational and cultural lines.
• Mentor doctoral and master’s students, advise on research at the intersection of history, missiology, and theology.
