Role Summary

The Global Analytics & Insights Director -- Oncology will join AstraZeneca's Global Analytics & Insights (GA&I) team and support the Oncology organization, with a focus on the Immuno-Oncology portfolio. The GA&I team's mission is to improve the quality of decisions taken across AstraZeneca's oncology assets by creating and delivering excellent market, customer, and competitor insights. In this role, you will lead the generation of insights and analytics that shape strategy and inform material business decisions. You will lead cross-functional strategy and insights initiatives, synthesize complex analyses into clear storylines and recommendations, and influence senior leaders and expert stakeholders. This is an opportunity for a critical thinker who can deliver well-researched, verified, and relevant analyses in a clear and impactful way. Success will require the ability to lead without authority, communicate effectively, influence across functions, and work confidently with incomplete data in a fast-growing organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Shape strategic business questions: Frame key business questions in ambiguous situations and define the most appropriate analytical approach.
  • Generate market and customer insights: Provide strategy-shaping analysis from a wide range of sources and integrate insights to advise material business decisions.
  • Lead market research: Identify and plan market research that enables relevant actions to address brand business problems while generating tumor-level knowledge beyond the brand.
  • Translate research into action: Interpret primary market research using strong business acumen to generate evidence-based, actionable insights.
  • Develop competitive intelligence: Work closely with AstraZeneca colleagues and external partners to lead competitive analysis for a brand and ensure that implications are reflected in forecasts and embedded in brand team thinking.
  • Lead revenue forecasting: Forecast revenues in a consistent, transparent, and robust manner to support investment decisions and resource planning.
  • Drive forecast alignment: Lead cross-functional alignment on forecast development through well-evidenced and credible insights. Own the development, delivery, and team alignment of the product or brand forecast and related assumptions.
  • Partner with local markets: Lead and negotiate with local markets to validate assumptions and market understanding. Share key knowledge and build collaborative relationships with market insights leads.
  • Develop performance measurement: Lead performance and KPI development and reporting, including best-practice sharing, to enable a detailed understanding of brand performance and opportunities based on a variety of inputs.
  • Communicate recommendations: Present analysis and synthesis to brand leaders in a succinct, persuasive, and decision-oriented way to drive team alignment.
  • Build therapy-area expertise: Possess or develop deep therapy-area knowledge, bridging clinical development through commercialization.
Required Qualifications

You will bring more than one of the following:

  • Advanced degree, ideally in a science- or mathematics-based field.
  • Relevant pharmaceutical industry experience gained in-house, within a management or strategy consulting firm, or in investment banking or equity analysis.
  • Qualitative and quantitative market research experience.
  • Understanding of commercial brand strategy.
  • Oncology experience.

In addition, you will be expected to demonstrate the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, synthesize complex information into clear recommendations, influence without authority, and work effectively with incomplete data.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Immuno-Oncology experience or experience within a related oncology portfolio.
  • Experience influencing senior leaders through clear, persuasive, and decision-oriented communication.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, including the ability to respectfully challenge a group of experts with well-supported strategic arguments.
  • Resourcefulness and decisiveness, with the ability to remain proactive and prioritize effectively in a fast-growing organization.
  • Experience working with local markets and external partners to validate assumptions and align on market understanding.
