Job summary

Lawyers for Justice, PC in Glendale seeks a Senior Attorney to lead an active caseload of wage-and-hour, class, and representative actions against major employers. You will guide strategy, oversee discovery, take and defend depositions, and argue motions in state and federal court.

The role requires a licensed attorney with 8+ years in civil litigation, strong trial and appellate skills, and the ability to mentor associates. Travel may be required as cases demand.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed to practice law in California or be pending admission to the California Bar.
• Minimum of 8+ years of experience in civil litigation, including discovery, oral advocacy, and court appearances.
• Experience with class actions, complex litigation, and wage-and-hour cases is a plus.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a heavy caseload of wage-and-hour, class, and representative actions against large regional and national employers.
• Develop case strategy and oversee discovery, depositions, and motion practice.
• Argue dispositive and class certification motions and lead settlement negotiations.
• Appear in court for hearings and trials and mentor junior attorneys.

Description

The Senior Attorney will manage and lead an active caseload of state and federal plaintiff's-side wage-and-hour, class, and representative action litigation against regional, national, and Fortune 500 companies, while also providing guidance and oversight to associate attorneys. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing case strategy; conducting and responding to complex discovery; taking and defending depositions; drafting and arguing dispositive and class certification motions; leading settlement negotiations; appearing in court for hearings and trial; and mentoring junior attorneys on litigation best practices. Our agenda is growing and the ideal candidate for this position is a licensed, highly experienced litigator with a strong track record in complex or class action litigation who is organized, professional, and committed to achieving strong outcomes for our clients.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be either (a) licensed to practice law in California or (b) already licensed in another U.S. jurisdiction and pending admission to the California Bar.
• The ideal candidate will be licensed to practice law in California and have minimum of 8+ years of experience in civil litigation, including experience with discovery in the civil litigation context, oral advocacy and appearing in Court, motion practice and taking/defending depositions.
• Prior experience with class actions, complex litigation, and wage and hour litigation is a plus.
• Candidates must be able to travel on occasion.
