Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Glazier to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in residential and commercial glazing, with the ability to manage complex projects, lead a team, and uphold high standards of craftsmanship and safety. The role involves working on glass installations, repairs, and replacements across various settings. The Senior Glazier will lead junior team members, ensuring timely, within-budget, and client-specified work completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation & Repair
- Install, replace, and repair glass for windows, doors, mirrors, skylights, storefronts, and other structures.
- Measure and cut glass for custom and standard applications.
- Install framed and unframed glass and mirrors, ensuring proper sealing and alignment.
- Perform precise glass cutting, sanding, and finishing.
- Project Management & Leadership
- Lead and supervise junior glaziers and apprentices, ensuring safety and efficiency.
- Train and mentor team members, providing guidance and feedback.
- Coordinate project schedules for residential and commercial jobs.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to glazing.
- Develop initiatives to improve productivity and efficiency.
- Customer Service & Communication
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand needs and provide recommendations.
- Provide accurate estimates for services.
- Address customer concerns to ensure satisfaction.
- Maintain professionalism on site and in client interactions.
- Utilize mobile applications or technology for work reporting.
- Safety & Compliance
- Follow safety guidelines and regulations.
- Ensure compliance with local codes and standards.
- Use PPE appropriately.
- Dispose of materials safely.
- Material Handling & Inventory
- Handle and store materials properly.
- Maintain inventory levels and inspect deliveries.
- Troubleshooting & Problem Solving
- Assess and resolve complex glazing issues.
- Implement solutions for system performance and durability.
Qualifications
- Experience:
- 5-7+ years as a glazier, with residential and commercial experience.
- Leadership or supervisory experience in glazing.
- Knowledge of tools, materials, and installation techniques.
- Skills:
- Expertise in measuring, cutting, and installing various glass types.
- Proficient with power and hand tools.
- Strong knowledge of safety and building codes.
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Education/Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Apprenticeship or training in glazing preferred.
- Certification (e.g., NGA) is a plus.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards is preferred.
- Physical Requirements:
- Lift up to 75 lbs.
- Stand, kneel, bend for extended periods.
- Work at heights, on ladders or scaffolding.
- Working Environment:
- Residential and commercial sites.
- Indoor and outdoor, various weather conditions.
- Follow safety protocols in construction zones.
