Job summary

The New York Botanical Garden seeks a Manager of the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory to lead glasshouse operations and supervise horticulturists.

You will oversee climate control, plant displays, and special exhibitions, collaborating with Engineering, Operations, and Horticulture leadership to maintain exemplary collections. Responsibilities include staff training, development of maintenance schedules, and coordination of exhibits, with occasional evening/weekend work and a salary commensurate with

Qualifications

• 2-year technical college degree in horticulture or related field or equivalent work experience
• 5 years’ experience with diverse tropical/glasshouse plant collections or 3 years with a relevant certificate
• 3 years’ supervisory experience
• Experience designing, documenting, and installing temporary horticultural displays
• Proficiency with greenhouse climate control and mechanical systems
• Knowledge of IPM tools and techniques, including beneficial insects
• Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certification—Category 3A or ability to obtain within two years
• OSHA 30 Training or ability to obtain within six months
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and plant records databases

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise gardening staff and oversee maintenance of diverse glasshouse plant material
• Coordinate staff training programs for safety and horticultural skills
• Lead a glasshouse-wide approach to work prioritization and facilities oversight
• Collaborate with horticulture leadership to implement educational programs for students
