Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope in Battle Ground, WA, is seeking a Machine Operator 1 for the 2nd shift to set up and operate fabrication equipment, interpret drawings, and ensure glass quality and on-time production. You will measure and inspect glass, perform basic maintenance, and follow all safety procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1+ year manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred (glass fabrication a plus).
• Ability to read a tape measure accurately (to 1/16” or better).
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs unassisted.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use machine interfaces.
• Strong math skills (fractions, decimals, basic calculations).
• Ability to read and understand basic English for work instructions.
• Experience operating overhead cranes or lifting equipment preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and reliability.
• Available for 5-day workweek with some Saturdays.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate fabrication equipment (drilling, cutting, tempering, or laminating machines) according to work orders, fabrication drawings, and production schedules.
• Interpret labels, shop drawings, digital programs, and fabrication sheets to determine glass specifications, dimensions, and hole/cutout placement.
• Perform accurate measurements using tape measures and gauges to ensure compliance with tolerances and specifications.
• Calculate dimensions, spacing, and placement using basic math (fractions, decimals, and conversions).
• Monitor machine operation and make minor adjustments to maintain product quality and efficiency.
• Inspect glass throughout the production process for defects, damage, and quality issues.
• Complete production documentation, including daily worksheets, inspection reports, and tracking forms.
• Perform routine machine checks and basic preventive maintenance to ensure equipment remains in good working condition.
• Follow all safety procedures, including proper handling of glass and use of PPE.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S and safety standards.
