Job summary

Delaware SWCD in Delaware County, OH seeks a GIS-focused professional to assist with the inventorying, planning, application, and maintenance of the district’s natural resource program.

You will manage GIS datasets with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online, create maps and graphics, support engineering design, and train staff on GIS workflows. Proficiency with MS Access/Excel and strong time management are essential for timely reporting and project success.

Qualifications

• Associates degree and 5+ years of GIS experience preferred.
• High school diploma with 7+ years experience acceptable.
• Valid Ohio driver's license and insurability.
• Experience with ArcGIS Pro/Online is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage and update GIS datasets using ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.
• Edit existing GIS datasets and ensure timely updates.
• Create, update, and maintain SWCD databases using MS Access and Excel.
• Produce maps and graphics for staff, partners, and the public.
• Assist in the engineering design of District projects.
• Develop workflows to enable CAD-GIS interoperability.
• Conduct site reviews, inspections, and analytical visits and prepare reports.
• Provide training to staff on GIS tools and workflows.
• Prepare weekly schedules and daily/weekly reports for time and cost accounting.
• Maintain equipment and inventory related to GIS activities.

Job description

To assist with the inventorying, planning, application, and maintenance of the Delaware SWCD’s natural resource program.

• Associates degree and five or more years of experience preferred, or high school diploma or equivalent with seven or more years experience.
• Employee must have valid Ohio driver’s license and an acceptable driving record. Must meet and maintain qualifications for driving on District business at all times, including insurability.

• Manages and updates the District’s GIS datasets using ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.
• Ensures new project features are added to GIS in a timely and accurate manner.
• Edits existing GIS datasets as necessary.
• Manages (create, update, and maintain) SWCD databases using MS Access and/or Excel.
• Participates as part of a team in the management of the District’s asset management system to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Provides quality maps and graphics to District staff, partners, and the public.
• Assists in the engineering design of District projects.
• Builds maps, manipulates geographic databases, queries, and analyzes such information to fulfill GIS related requests.
• Provides training to District staff to assist in performance of day-to-day work activities.
• Develop workflows to facilitate the conversion and/or interoperability of CAD and GIS data.
• Conducts site reviews, inspections, investigations, and analytical visits and completes reports.
• Explains conservation practices using straightforward narrations of facts and descriptions.
• Develops weekly schedule, tracks daily work, and makes own appointments.
• Compiles daily and weekly reports for time and cost accounting as well as monthly reports to Board of Supervisors.
• Ensures equipment is in good working order. Ensures accurate inventory of related supplies.
• Maintains records of completed work.
• Works closely with resource conservation staff and administrators to develop budgeting, staffing, and annual reporting recommendations.
• Understands topography, soil types, aerial photography, geography, vegetation, and other features.
• Maintains cooperative working relationships with all agencies and land users.
• Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
• Attends various training sessions, teleconferences, webinars and workshops.
• Performs typing, word processing, and related computer operations.
• Works additional hours outside of typical work schedule/business hours as required.
• Observes all District policies and procedures.
• Prioritizes work and practices effective time managementresultingin good qualityand quantityofwork.
• Sets and meetsdeadlines,effectivelymanages multiple job duties and asksfor assistance when needed.
• Provides accurate, timely and professional assistance to partners, landowners and general publicin a mannerthatheightens the District’scredibilityand visibility.
