Job summary

Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County is seeking a GIS Technician to perform technical GIS functions, create maps, maintain GIS layers, and support zoning and variance requests. You will prepare graphics for meetings and assist with data preparation for reports and studies.

The role requires an associate degree in a related field and at least one year of GIS experience or equivalent training; a valid driver’s license is also required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in drafting, cartography, geography, or related field.
• One year GIS data experience or equivalent education/training.
• Proficiency in GIS concepts and data layers.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Prepare site location maps and signs for COA, variance, and zoning requests; collect input and maintain a sign status log.
• Create COA, variance, and zoning signs and associated graphics.
• Produce graphics for PowerPoint presentations for public meetings and commissions.
• Prepare plats in large format and reduced copies.
• Assist with posting notices and agenda items on the ACC website.
