Job summary

Steneral Consulting seeks a GIS Technician/Analyst to support Addison's Public Works and Engineering GIS program. You will maintain data, perform QA/QC of enterprise GIS databases, and integrate field and design data using Trimble GPS and mobile apps.

You will create maps, dashboards, and visualizations, support ArcGIS Enterprise/Pro/Online, and assist with Cityworks and Survey123 integrations. Field work and collaboration with engineers are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in GIS or related field; level depends on Technician vs Analyst.
• 2+ years GIS and GPS experience, preferably in municipal/public works or utilities.
• GIS certifications (GISP) or Esri certifications and Cityworks experience are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support the Town of Addison GIS program by maintaining, updating, analyzing, and distributing spatial data for Public Works and Engineering.
• Perform maintenance and quality control of enterprise GIS databases, including editing utility, transportation, stormwater, and municipal infrastructure layers.
• Integrate data from as-built plans, surveys, engineering drawings, GPS field collection, and departmental records.
• Collect, verify, and update asset locations in the field using Trimble GPS equipment and mobile GIS applications.
• Conduct field inventories of municipal infrastructure (water, wastewater, stormwater, streets, traffic signs, right-of-way).
• Create maps, reports, dashboards, and visualizations to support planning, engineering, asset management, and operational decisions.
• Support and maintain ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and related GIS/web/mobile applications.
• Assist with GIS integrations (Cityworks, Survey123, permitting, asset management systems) and provide user support and training.
• Participate in GIS implementation projects, capital improvement initiatives, and coordinate with consultants, contractors, and engineers.
• Ensure compliance with GIS documentation, metadata, standards, and procedures.
• Work both in the office and outdoors, sometimes in varying weather conditions, utilizing and maintaining GPS and field collection equipment.
• Utilize knowledge of GIS principles, cartography, coordinate systems, and municipal infrastructure.
• Demonstrate proficiency in Esri GIS software, Trimble GPS, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical staff.
• Meet physical requirements for field work, including lifting equipment and operating vehicles.
• Maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License.

Qualifications

• Preferred: GISP or Esri certifications, SQL, Python/Arcade skills, Cityworks experience, municipal asset management knowledge.
