Northeast Natural Energy, LLC is seeking a GIS Technician to support day-to-day geospatial production, data maintenance, and mapping from our Morgantown, WV office. You will work closely with the GIS Applications Specialist to maintain accurate GIS datasets and respond to internal requests.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, or related field with 1–3 years GIS production experience.
• Proficiency with Esri GIS tools (ArcGIS Pro and/or ArcMap) and ability to edit spatial data and produce cartographic outputs.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication; able to manage multiple requests and meet deadlines.

NNE is seeking a GIS Technician for its Morgantown, WV office. This role supports the organization’s day-to-day geospatial production, data maintenance, and mapping needs. Working closely with the GIS Applications Specialist, the GIS Technician will help maintain accurate and current GIS datasets, respond timely to internal requests, and support consistent data upkeep, while advanced system administration, automation, and enterprise GIS development remain centralized within the specialist role.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Edit and maintain GIS layers, including land tracts, lease boundaries, and index datasets.
• Perform routine updates to spatial and attribute data following established standards.
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness across production layers.
• Create basic exhibit maps for internal departments and external partners.
• Prepare maps for land, title, and operational workflows. Produce standardized map templates and layouts as needed.
• Fulfill day-to-day GIS requests from Land, Title, and Operations teams. Serve as the primary GIS point of contact for the Morgantown office.
• Respond to mapping, data export, and spatial information requests in a timely manner.
• Export GIS data for brokers, consultants, and external partners.
• Generate tables, shapefiles, PDFs, and other required deliverables.
• Ensure appropriate data formatting and consistency prior to release.
• Coordinate with the GIS Applications Specialist on data standards, workflows, and priorities.
• Follow established GIS procedures and documentation.
• Identify data issues and escape system-level concerns as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, or a related field and 1–3 years of experience performing GIS production tasks.
• Proficiency with Esri GIS tools (ArcGIS Pro and/or ArcMap). Experience editing spatial data and producing cartographic outputs.
• Strong attention to detail and data accuracy. Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple requests and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting land, title, or asset-based GIS workflows.
• Familiarity with enterprise GIS environments (Specifically Portal/AGOL)
• Experience working with parcel, lease, or tract-based datasets.
