Job summary

Kapur & Associates is seeking a GIS Technician to join our Milwaukee team. You will map, update, and maintain gas and electrical utility infrastructure using ESRI ArcMap, GE Smallworld, and ArcGIS Pro, and perform QA/QC to ensure data accuracy.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in a GIS-related field, at least 1 year of professional GIS experience, and strong analytical and communication skills to collaborate across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Cartography, Environmental Science, or a GIS-related field.
• A GIS Certificate is preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of professional GIS work experience.
• Proficiency with ArcMap, GE Smallworld, and ArcGIS Pro for spatial analysis and data management.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret complex data sets.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced GIS Technician to join our team. The GIS Technician will play a crucial role in mapping, updating, and maintaining gas and electrical utility infrastructure using various software systems and platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurate data representation, performing quality assurance checks, and supporting GIS workload to meet productivity goals.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Cartography, Environmental Science, or a related field with an emphasis in GIS.
• A GIS Certificate is preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of professional GIS work experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of computer mapping and a solid understanding of basic processes within ArcGIS.
• Proficiency in using ESRI ArcMap, GE Smallworld, and ArcGIS Pro for spatial analysis, data management, and production tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately interpret and represent complex data sets.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve data discrepancies.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration within cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
