Job summary

Southern California Edison (SCE) seeks a GIS Technical Specialist, Senior Specialist to join the Geospatial Analysis team in the Transmission & Distribution unit. You will perform in-depth GIS data analysis, guide Map3D data management, and create AGOL web applications and dashboards for project visibility.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of experience in GIS and/or analyzing data.
• Experience with AutoDesk Map 3D 2016 (cGIS).
• Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro, Oracle Spatial or other GIS software.
• Experience in developing and enhancing web applications and interactive dashboards, utilizing Experience Builder, to monitor project completion rates and ensure data quality.

Responsibilities

• Performs in-depth analyses, approves, develops recommendations, and creates scripts, tools or models where appropriate to enhance data flow and analysis.
• Leads data remediation efforts including analysis, quality control, and performs or coordinates the asset updates to ensure data is accurate and aligns with actual field conditions.
• Identifies industry trends and maintains relationships with relevant stakeholders and provides consultative services on an as-needed basis to address complex GIS problems/issues.
• Designs, develops and implements procedures to improve efficiency of operations and processes associated with mapping standards and GIS tools.
• Utilizes geospatial software to process, analyze, and model geospatial data to improve processes and data quality.
• Collaborates with internal/external business partners to evaluate impacts on departmental activities that rely on GIS data or processes.
• Conducts land, regulatory, and related project searches, including identification of new data sources helping identify industry trends and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders.
• Produces high-quality map products for presentations, meetings, public usage and departments, and creates key business maps and produces ad-hoc or on-off maps.
• Provides functional direction, guidance, and training to staff members to ensure conformance to departmental standards and procedures.
• A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

In this role, you’ll be part of the Geospatial Analysis group within our Transmission & Distribution Business Unit. You’ll identify, document, and resolve complex issues related to the management of geospatial data in SCE’s comprehensive Geographic Information System (cGIS). The position will perform in-depth analysis on geospatial asset data, provide technical direction to team members, and support accurate and efficient data management for cGIS Map3D. Also, this role will have to create, modify and track AGOL web applications and dashboard for all related projects within the team. This position will also provide consulting, lead initiatives and projects and make process and productivity recommendations.

Minimum Qualifications

• Five or more years of experience in GIS and/or analyzing data.

Preferred Qualifications

• Specialized CAD or GIS certification / degree
• Experience with AutoDesk Map 3D 2016 (cGIS).
• Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro, Oracle Spatial or other GIS software.
• Experience in developing and enhancing web applications and interactive dashboards, utilizing Experience Builder, to monitor project completion rates and ensure data quality.
• Five years’ or more experience interpreting complex work order and designs (i.e. Distribution, Bulk Transmission, Sub Transmission) with a solid understanding of electrical theory.
• Experience using business applications to create and edit complex reports, graphs, and presentations.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills including an ability to represent the organization and collaborate with internal and external business partners.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel performing advanced functions such as VLOOKUP’s, pivot tables, filtering/sorting, charts and graphing.

Additional Information

• This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
