Job summary

Milwaukee County’s General Mitchell Airport seeks a GIS Specialist to manage GIS projects and data systems, coordinating with airport departments and external agencies. You will develop GIS data structures, perform analyses, create maps and reports, and support field data collection with Trimble GPS equipment.

The role requires leadership in GIS data administration, service maintenance for Enterprise GIS apps, and collaboration on contracts for data and software.

Qualifications

• Current resident of Wisconsin.
• Valid Wisconsin driver's license.
• Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Cartography or related field.
• At least 1 year of GPS Management and Data Collection.
• At least 5 years of GIS, Database Creation and Maintenance, Data Collection, Dashboards.
• Advanced knowledge of word processing and spreadsheets.
• Advanced knowledge of ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Enterprise, Field Maps, Dashboards, GPS.
• Intermediate knowledge of CMMS (Cityworks) and PowerBI, Autodesk.

Responsibilities

• Manages GIS projects and supports GIS Manager in data creation and methodologies.
• Coordinates GIS activities between GMIA and external agencies.
• Develops and manages GIS data and database environment; acts as GIS DB administrator.
• Maintains GIS spatial and tabular data; performs data analysis for maps/reports.
• Maintains Trimble GPS equipment; field data collection and attribution.
• Develops and maintains services for Enterprise GIS applications; installs updates.
• Coordinates with external agencies for sharing spatial data and data development.
• Troubleshoots user issues with Enterprise GIS and related applications (Cityworks, web services, Collector tools, workflows).

Job Summary

The GIS Specialist will manage GIS projects, implement policies for creation and use of spatial and tabular data; coordinate GIS activities between Airport and other external agencies; participate in various projects working with special requests, special report preparations, and GIS presentations for Airport departments; develop, implement, and manage GIS data and its organizational structure/database;create and maintain GIS spatial and tabular data; perform analysis on data, produce reports, and map requests; provide mapping, spatial analysis, training, field data collection, and support for use of applications; evaluate department procedures and assist GIS manager with developing efficient and effective organizational processes.

Essential Responsibilities

• Manages activities involving GIS projects. Supports GIS Manager in developing and implementing methodologies for creation and use of spatial data including editing, coding, and annotation of spatial data.
• Consults with GMIA departments in the development of their GIS plans, goals, and objective. Assists in coordinating GIS activities between GMIA and other external agencies. Participates in various projects working with special interests, reports, and GIS presentations.
• Develops, implements, and manages GIS data and its organizational structure/database environment. Functions as database administrator for all GIS related processes and projects utilizing Esri ArcGIS Sever and ArcSDE in a SQL environment.
• Maintains GIS spatial and tabular data to provide users with the most current and accurate data available. Performs analysis on data to produce maps and reports requested by management and departments.
• Maintains Trimble GPS Equipment to include base map configurations, account setup, end user training and use for collection, locating, and attribution of GIS data. Collect Data in field with a GPS Unit.
• Develop and maintain services in support of Enterprise GIS Applications. Installs and troubleshoots software updates and installs service packs as needed.
• Coordinates with external agencies to facilitate sharing of spatial data. Assists with contracts with Enterprise GIS service providers to include software, hardware, and data development.
• Trouble shooting user issues with any Enterprise GIS and associated applications, including Cityworks, web services, collector tools, and document workflows.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• Current resident of Wisconsin.
• Possession of a valid Wisconsin Driver's License, able to be maintained throughout employment.
• Possession of a bachelor’s degree or higher in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Cartography or a related field.
• At least one (1) years of GPS Management, Data Collection
• At least five (5) years of GIS, Database Creation and Maintenance, Data Collection, Dashboards
• Advance knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets.
• Advance knowledge of ArcGIS - ArcPRO, ArcGIS Online, Enterprise, Field Maps, Dashboards, GPS.
• Intermediate knowledge of CMMS - like Cityworks, along with additional applications such as PowerBI, Autodesk

• GISP or ESRI training preferred
